Repost from @visitsaudi Located in the Hijaz region along Saudi’s western coast, the holy city…

Located in the Hijaz region along Saudi’s western coast, the holy city of Medina makes a good base for day trips both to the Red Sea and deeper into the desert. After you’ve experienced the majesty of Medina, these natural wonders are just a short drive away.

Yanbu
With more than 1,760 kilometers of Red Sea coastline, Saudi boasts some of the world’s most pristine coral reefs. Yanbu is one of Arabia’s two main hubs for underwater adventure, where you can spot brightly colored coral alongside hammerhead sharks, eels, rays, lionfish, clownfish, turtles and octopuses.

Hegra
Once a bustling hub along the spice and incense trade route, this ancient city is now a sprawling necropolis of 131 elaborately sculpted tombs decorated with ancient Roman, Greek, Egyptian and home-grown Nabataean motifs.

Al Wahbah Crater
At 2 kilometers across and nearly 250 meters deep, Al Wahbah Crater looks otherworldly. Don your hiking boots to take in some incredible views on a two-hour trip into the crater, or trek around its rim, which takes about three hours.

Send this post to someone you’d love to travel with to see these sights.
